I'm guest posting over at Sister Spooky's lovely book blog today, all about my top ten picture books. I didn't think it would be so tricky to choose just ten, but it really was! I decided to go with my top ten right now, inspirational gorgeous books that I want to buy for everyone!
And as my top ten picture books are posted over there, I thought I would share a video of Matilda "reading" from one of my choices - Don't Dip Your Chips In Your Drink, Kate by Caryl Hart & Leigh Hodgkinson over here...
Leigh Hodgkinson is one of my favourite illustrators ever. Her work is just gorgeous, and as you'll see on her blog she's opening her very own shop really soon. Squeal!
And I thought you might like the links to some of these fun activities from a few of the books on my list...
- A Don't Dip Your Chips collage sheet and colouring sheet from Caryl Hart's website.
- A Monkey & Me door plate from Emily Gravett's website.
- Orange, Pear, Apple, Bear match also from Emily Gravett.
- Hello Tilly activities from Walker Books.
- A whole host of games on Charlie & Lola's own website.
- Catherine Rayner's website is well worth a peek. I may have accidentally bought two of her illustrated cards whilst I was browsing!
I hope you enjoy reading my top ten picture books... do you have any favourites that aren't on my list?

Great blog post. The link to Leigh's blog doesn't work.

Well done Matilda!!! I think you should read books out loud on your mommy's blog more often.
I read your guest post, but somehow I only count 7 books on there?

Funny, why did I not realize that of course you'd love Lauren Child's illustrations??

Fab choices! There are a few in there we haven't read yet too so will look for those to read :)

i LOVE Lauren Child! I used to collect her books before we even had kids, so I was super pleased when Matilda loved them too!

I also love Lauren Child, but I came late to that party. My 3 year old is just now enjoying the tv show and I honestly have to say I adore the relationship between Charlie and Lola. We are in the process of acquiring all her books.
Just hearing your daughter read that other one makes me want it.
I'm going to have to make a list, so I wouldn't mind never ever at all if you posted about more children's books.
So excited to see what is in store for you this year.
Oh and for Christmas this year we bought Orange Pear Apple Bear for my littlest, and just the other day I was reading it to her and we had our first real interactive moment where every time I said bear I'd growl and then she would. It will always have a place in my heart now.
