On Saturday morning, despite the forecast of thunder and lightening, we had a 'party in the park' birthday party for Matilda and Theo. Specifically a 'hide and seek party in the park'.
And it was absolutely lovely.
Matilda had decided that her favourite game, and the only one she wanted to play at the party, was hide and seek. So the theme of the party was decided.
The local park was the perfect venue for thirty children running and hiding. And after discovering the wonderful Ellinée Journal's free woodland birthday party printables, we themed pretty much everything around the fantastic ears and animal images they had.
It made it so easy!
Upon arrival we gave each child a treasure hunt sheet, where they had to match the animals to the numbers found in picture clues we had hidden around the park. Once they had completed it, they had to find me or Tom to receive their prize - a set of animal ears.
Once the ears were on, they went off in search of the next prize - sweets hidden amongst the trees. They, of course, thought that was fantastic!
Everyone brought their own picnic and blanket. And we provided a table full of sweet treats - mostly fruit and cake! The kids ran around for almost two hours, whilst the parents could chat and relax.
Both sets of grandparents and two of their aunties came too, which felt super special to Matilda and Theo. And the sun shined for the whole party right up until the very end when it absolutely poured down!
We made allergy free birthday cupcakes, adorned with more Ellinée printables which, of course, went down very well with the littlest Clempson...
It was an absolutely lovely party. Simple, cheap and really fun.
