I've been seeing a few of these "share random facts about yourself" threads around lately, and I thought it might be fun to share mine.
1 ~ I did Animation at university and have worked as a puppet maker for twelve years. I have worked on a few films and lots of tv programmes, and when Tim Burton came round to visit the workshop he actually told me my work was good! I haven't seen the latest film we worked on (Frankenweenie) yet, mainly because there is never enough time to go to the cinema! So I have no idea if my name is in the credits or not - I hope it is though!
2 ~ My husband Tom works for the same puppet company as well as being an author. His next book is published in three weeks - very exciting!
3 ~ The reason for the lack of time is our two little children. Matilda is four and Theo is two. Theo was born ten weeks early and spent the first seven weeks of his life in special care. He was a teeny 3lb 1oz when he was born. They are both completely adorable, and completely exhausting!
4 ~ I donated nearly 4000oz of breastmilk to the human milk bank whilst breastfeeding Theo, which has helped save the lives of hundreds of other premature babies.
5 ~ Our children are both allergic to dairy, eggs, and soya. Tom is allergic to nuts, melon, cherries, and has celiac disease. But I don't have any allergies.
6 ~ I'm the eldest of five children, and my littlest sister was only two when I went to university.
7 ~ When I was seven I was the Sale Festival Rosebud for a local parade and had a float made just for me. It was a swan made from thousands of teeny balls of tissue paper. It was amazing!
8 ~ Tom and I lived in Australia for six months before we had children, and got engaged at the most easterly point of the country whilst whale watching. It was pretty awesome!
9 ~ I'm desperate to make my business a success, and dream of illustrating picture books too. I set up Cupcakes for Clara as a sideline to sell the "merchandise" to my picture books so that I could prove to publishers there was an interest. I didn't quite expect it to take off so well! And I'm finally in talks with a major publisher about a series of Clara books.
10 ~ We squeeze two adults, two children, two businesses and a trillion toys into our lovely little house. And in about six weeks it is going to be featured in a gorgeous new magazine.
